Working at Stanford is like working in a park, from the standpoint of
the campus
surroundings.
Adherence to dress codes(s), work hours, etc., depend entirely on where
you work
in the Univ. If you are in direct contact with the public, highly
placed
administrators, or alumni, the expectations are pretty high for a "good
show" of
nice dress, etc.
If you work in an academic department, all bets are off.
At mid-level administration, where I'm at, everything is EXTREMELY
POLITICAL.
Who gets funding, or cuts in budget is very politically driven. This
environment
is much more Machivellian than a corportation (Visa U.S.A.) where I
worked some
years ago. The non-academic staff is the lowest of the low on the
pecking order.
