I am an AE in the Technology niche for Spherion with over eight years of
recruiting and sales experience. I have worked for some of the largest
and most recognized companies in the industry.
Who Spherion Is:
Spherion would like to differentiate themselves by requiring business
dress and touting large named national accounts. But honestly they
falling into the price war with the Kellys and Manpowers when it comes
to staffing services. Do not get me wrong here, Spherion can recruit
and they do it very well. I believe the disconnect lies with the true
vision and direction of this IT services Company. One indicator is the
prolonged lack of a CEO.
Investment In Employees:
Nil to very little training is provided or required of the junior staff.
Those individuals with deeper industry knowledge will have a higher
probability of success.
Business Mix:
35% VMS "commodity staffing engagements" (Chimes, Beeline, IBM, etc...)
50% IT Staffing
15% Project business
Advancement:
Advancement according to my counterparts is neither readily defined nor
available. From a career path the organization is a bit flat (I found
out after signing on). From an income potential ...well...it is an
interesting plan. Salary increases are non-existent. A survey I
conducted found 4-6 year employees with the same base salary they had
when they began. The commission program has taken a 180 approach from
traditional base + commissions to a draw program (change happened 1
month after I signed on...oops!)
