Limited opportunities for advancement. Small company owned and operated
by an individual and his girlfriend (a reorganization of the old SunJet
Airlines, which in contrast, was run like a well oiled machine).
Management hours were in excess (at the office) of 12-14 hours per day,
between 5 to 7 days a week. Additionally on call all hours away from
office, with employee contact often starting between 4 and 5AM (though
not due to report to office until 8AM each day).
Monday through thursday dress code is shirt and tie, fridays casual.
Evenings and weekends are casual attire.
Unfortunatly, business is primarilly run by a woman with no management or
prior business training (owners girlfriend, an ex-flight attendant).
Resentment and severe stress from most all department heads is the
result.
Under capitalized, and understaffed in many departments. Bills not paid
on time resulting in vendors having to be negotiated with for services.
High turnover.
Many department heads underqualified and undertrained for their
positions.
Low morale factor.
Payment for positions lower than industry standard for the same type
company elsewhere.
Some positions, titles and job descriptions are modified and even
eliminated on "knee jerk" reactions to events, often without most people
in the chain of command being consulted or contacted in advance.
