SWA is very culture oriented and they are struggling hard to maintain
that as they grow. I am a member of a dept family within a corp
family. they have an attitude of work hard and play equally hard. Its
not a place for loners or "my way or the highway" people. ego's need not
apply. I feel this is sometimes over stressed, attitude over skill is
the norm.Hire for attitude and teach skill is the rule, the reality is
you better actually have the skill when you get there because no one has
the time to teach you or mentor you. You are pretty much on your own as
far a personal development and education go. Growth has not been kind
to this culture. the work force is very diversethey only thing thy are
not tolerant of is intolerence. there is a tendency to take the old boy
network attitude too far. It is often who you know. They try hard to
be true to their mission statement about employees being treated as
employees are required to treat their customers.
