The Sharper Image is supposed to be all about innovation however the
upper management is overwhelming concerned with appearance. Stretching
from the depths of the stock room to the front window posters, the
trend is perfection. Although the quality of product might not be up to
par, as far as aesthetics is concerned were never to settle. Unlike
other stores, my store is some what laid back, we have a much more
relaxed cliental and considering we handle a large quantity of returns
for the company we must maintain a much more positive moral. Our attire
is strictly black and sharply groomed, once again considering we are
located in the lower half of Orange country I am pleased if my staff's
shirts are pressed and not faded. As far as corporate culture is
concerned there is a refreshing mix of beings that make up my crew.
And more importantly based on the compensation plan set up by the
Sharper Image there is excessive competition. The environment is
interesting to say the least; the sales draw is a bit excessive for my
employees which I feel cause them not to exceed the high expectations
set for them, especially considering they spend most of their time
doing returns as opposed to selling. However, the company does enough
advertising to keep us all employed.
