Schulte Roth is not a good place to work. One friend had billed 1300
hours in six months - and was told she was not pulling her weight. I
did an even heavier load for a three months, and we won a huge victory
on that motion, but we didn't get anything looking like a thank you.
Another friend worked incredibly hard for two years, and could always be
counted on to pull off a last-minute miracle when others left a task for
the last minute - instead of getting credit for the rescues, she was
fired because her work wasn't always polished.
I observed several occasions when the interest of a client differed
somewhat from the interest of the firm. At other firms, the client's
interest comes first. At Schulte, the client's interest is regularly
sacrificed to increase billings. It's pretty appalling.
The intellectual property group is an extreme case. There is no
management - everything is always complete chaos. Associates are often
asked to work incredibly hard to rescue things that have been sitting on
partners' desks literally to the last day.
