Education is here to stay. I think that at this time there are many
weaknesses. For one thing Bush and Bush are making it so hard for kids
to pass that we will have a generation of dropouts. We have kids who
are 12 in the fourth grade. Also, education isn't given priority when
it comes to funding. The teachers and children are extremely
stressed. Also, because of increasing populations in Florida schools
are extremely crowded. Teachers and staff are overworked and way
underpaid. At some point education as it is today will go the way of
the dinosaur, and I can imagine "Virtual Classrooms" as a future means
of education. It would certainly cost less in the long run to have
education take place at home on computers in a "virtual classroom"
where children sign-in daily and learn froma "virtual teacher" on-
line. Children could then get individual help from this teacher. No
one realizes how croweded classrooms are and how many horrible
discipline problems there are in the classroom. A teach has only so
much time to devote, and when she has to deal with multiple, serious
discipline problems there is very little time to devote to a child who
needs extra help. Also, in Florida because of Jeb Bush's FCATS the
teachers have to concentrate so much on trying to help children reach
impossible goals (triginomentry in 3rd grade), that there is no time to
really teach children basic skills. Today they have to teach
themselves how to multiply. Jeb Bush thinks this is the way for kids
to learn! If the kids fail the FCATS (I have seen plenty of hysterical
children in fear of failing Bush's stupid FCATS), there's a good chance
they will fail for the whole year. Like I said "A generation of drop-
outs" who are unable to live up to Jeb Bush's unrealistic educational
goals.
