The district I work is probably as far as I'm concerned one of the best
and safest districts in this company. Proper training to insure safety
is number one on the list. Our number one priority is getting back home
to the family. I also like the concerns this district places on family.
I constantly paint the picture of what this company has to offer to all
newly hired employees and even those of which I've worked with for years
that want to give up what is in store for the career man. Diversity
within the Midland district is very good and racism is not tolerated at
all. I came aboard in with my feet pointed foward willing to be trained
and willing to learn. What I like is when you apply yourself the sky is
the limit. Anyone can write an incident report and all are reviewed and
taken seriously, so that keeps everyone in check. However, the IR's are
not what keeps everyone in check but the emphesis placed on disobeying
any rules and regulations. Our senior hands are committed to taken time
out with any employee to insure he or she is the best hand he or she can
be, and that makes you feel apart of the team. I was employed for only
three months and told my FSM (Gary Boyd)he may think it's premature but
I want to take advantage of all the training I can get to be the best
employee I can be and move up. Gary told me he didn't think it was
premature at all and asked how was I at fluids. I told him I have
general knowledge of almost every aspect of the fracturing field work. I
didn't bother him with when after that (knowing he is a very busy man).
Three months later I saw my name on the board with the promotion. I was
given all the training I needed and turned loose. The demand was there
and so was I. Never late for a call. Never unavailable. No moving
violations. Even though the hours are very demanding they stress staying
within DOT. And if there is something at home that may cause you not to
focus on your job, time is given to take care of it (safety first). I
was injured Aug. 8th 2002 and i'm so concerned about my job. I love this
company. I was told we want you back for the long haul so take care of
yourself, get well and come back. I hope I'm not put out to pasture due
to my injury, but since I've been off I have always been treated as a
part of the family. The Midland district does it by the book and we're
proud of who we are. Great Employers, and great employes. I can go on
and on. While I trained I didn't allow short cuts, because I wasn't
trained that way. I stress the rules and regulations because the way you
train a person is the way that person is going to train the next. And
that is the person you will have to trust. Great Employers, Great
Employees, Great Company. Schlumberger #1
