SallieMae is an excellent "Corporate America" company to work for.
Unfortunately because it is such a large company you give up
the "personal touch", for benefits. You're only a number in a sea of
numbers. The bottom line is the almighty dollar, so there is no such
thing as a cost of living increase. The annual raise you receive
incorporates the cost of living into your raise. But if your annual
review doesn't warrant a raise, you don't get one. So the cost of
living goes up, but your salary doesn't. Go figure!
The upside to this is, great health insurance, 401K, tuition
reimbursement. The typical corporate benefits. We have a VERY liberal
dress code in Panama City. Opportunities within this office come in
spurts. We have grown emmensely over the time I have been employed
there. So much so that now 95% of the office staff sit in 3' wide
desks
for 8 hours a day. You don't get a big boy's desk until you become a
salary employee.
