Although I interviewed for a graduate student position, their package
included
full tuition remission, salary, and health insurance. Salary started at
$18,000
in 2001 and has increased yearly to $24,000 currently. However, I
applied for a
pre-doctoral grant from the American Heart Association, which means my
professor
does not have to pay for my salary out of his grant. There are no
bonuses, no
stock options, no vacations. Vacations are rare graduate school, so are
free
weekends.
