This company was once a giant in the travel technology industry. It is
still the reservation system for American Airlines (AA) as well as many
other small and large airlines. (AA once owned Sabre). In the past
decade, as the
industry changed, Sabre chose to aquire its product vs. develop its
product. In the process, it has devoured some of its
innovative competitors but it has not utilized these companies to its
best advantage. In fact these products are slowly being integrated into
Sabre as a whole. Sabre does have some great people still working there
but it has also lost a lot of talent. Loss of quality employess can be
attributed to large scall layoffs as well employees finding more
favorable companies. Unfortunately, I do not feel
Sabre has much innovation left. The industry has changed greatly but
Sabre sometimes appears to act as it did 10-15 years ago. Travelocity
is perhaps its brightest spot in the industry and at least at this
posting, a great deal of time, energy and money is being diverted to
Travelocity.
