My first approach to ST was as a new recruit in a small consultancy.
Even as a consultant, I was first interviewed first by the manager
of the group I wished to work for, then by a representative of Human
Resources, and was given a relatively quick personality test (in
English) to fill in. Then, on another date, I was set a much longer
personality test (in French), run by an external consultant. ST would
have sent me for a third test, if I had not objected.
French companies seem to set much stall by these tests. Foreigners are
at
a disadvantage in not having been groomed into how to answer the
questions 'correctly'.
Added to this, the new, harse economic environment in which we now find
ourselves, means that company policy is now to recruit almost
exclusively
outside of the high salary regions of Europe and the United States.
So, anyone wanting to apply for a job in France, now, would have to be
*extremely* attractive to stand any chance of being recruited.
Having said that, there are still temporary contracts available,
especially for students and graduates. This offers the main opportunity
for new people to enter the company, and make such a positive impact,
that the company is convinced to keep them on.
