Dress code: casual office attire (no sandals, torn jeans etc)
Diversity: This company promotes and supports diversity in gender,
culture, race, and many other areas. They do so in action not just in
words.
Hours: My hours are very flexible. Officially the usual 8-5 m-f
schedule, but that varies according to the needs of the business and my
personal obligations.
Culture: The official stance is to be casual but professional. The
people are friendly, professional, and usually (with very rare
exceptions) enjoyable to work with, even in high pressure situations (of
which there are many).
Advancement opportunitues are normally good, but there has been an
internal advancement freeze in effect for over a year. Supposedly this
is to assist in preventing layoffs. It is frustrating, especially with
reduced bonus values (due to poor economic performance). When the
economy is good, advancement is encouraged and supported.
The benefits, especially the insurance, are very strong, and the company
takes employee personal and family life very seriously. Also, thecmopany
promotes charitable activities and organizations, including some paid
time off for certain events.
