SBC is truly a gigantic company. The saying the that the brain doesn't
know what the arm is doing id true for this company.
CORPORATE CULTURE:
I find that corporate culture is different from department to
department. One common thread is that morale is usually a common
factor. The culture is very "PC" and goes from high stress (when times
are bad) to low stress (when the $$$$ is rolling in). Immediate group
memebers are VERY supportive, but to get anything done between
departments takes an act from God. Each department is ready to blame
the other department because failure is not an option at SBC.
DIVERSITY:
Very good diversity. Leadership is not as mixed, but many women hold
high positions.
HOURS:
Hours can be flexible.
DRESS CODE:
Engineering is a bit relaxed. No jeans unless you are going to the
field. Customer facing positions are full business attire.
ADVANCEMENT:
One word, none. A major problem in this company is there is no
advancement. Knowing the right person gives you an edge. Promotions
are not happening, though promises are always made. The motto today
is "just wait for things to get better.....".
