Working for this company is like walking on thin ice! Because the
company is a start-up internet B2B joint venture between The Big Three
and Toyota it is a culture clash like you wouldn't believe. The company
officers and top management are captive employees and therefore bring
all of their baggage and policies to taint the new company. Also,
because they will go back to their cushy roles at their parent companies
they have nothing to risk if the joint venture fails. The new company
does not get the same benefits or holidays as the parent companies -
they only get the policies that the officers want to transfer over. ie.-
Can't except gifts from suppliers over $50 and they recently installed
spy software on all computers to track everything people do on their
computers - down to keystroke recording. The CEO, a Ford Credit
executive (who knows how he got to the level he is at?) is an air-head,
extremely two-faced - he is known for giving the same tasks/projects to
more than one person at a time, thereby causing confusion/low moral and
of course poor productivity. He doesn't give proper instructions or
clear directions and then reports people to HR for poor performance for
not completing the project correctly. Never having the guts to address
the issue with the employee(s) he gave the assignment to. He prefers to
talk about you behind your back instead. There is a joke at the company
about how he constantly has beads of sweat on his upper lip. I have a
theory about why he does. - It is Fear sweat - he fears that someone
will discover how unqualified he is to be in the position he's in... The
HR Manager - somehow has the ability to report to work 20-30 minutes
late everyday and takes a two-hour lunch on a daily basis and nobody
says anything about it. What a cake walk job! She is an expert at
pretending to care about people and getting them to talk about their
personal life and then notes the information to possibly use against you
in the future. She manages to work less than 30 hours a week and still
gets bonuses and is considered to be "golden"..The CFO (a GMAC
executive) is a 50-year old woman who is an anal-retentive fat-phobe who
spends most of her time "Chatting" about the stupidest topics such as
outlining her latest vacation details. When she is done telling you
these time-wasting stories she always says "ohhh wellll". That is your
que that she is finished. She also has the ability to act as if she
cares about people and inquires about your family, health, etc. If she
knows that you have a medical condition she wants to know all of the
details. She assesses the risk you are to the company based on all of
the information she can get you to pour out and then uses it to railroad
you out the door. The dress code is business casual and jeans on
Fridays. The office hours are from 8-5 and there isn't any way to
advance because there is no where to go- the captive employees are in
the way and will handpick their replacement based on whether you are
like-minded...Uggh!
