As an employee at the Quest Diagnostics laboratory, a fortune 500
company, the environment is much more lax than you would think. Quest
does strive for diversity in it's employees and they also strive for
excellence among integrity, etc. The executive staff members are
located on the top floor and the labs are scattered between the five
buildings on site. Dress codes are business casual and business casual
to corporate dress in the executive areas of the office. Closed toed
shoes are required for employees in the lab and standard in most jobs,
no midriffs, short skirts, sleeveless, etc are permitted. Depending in
which area you apply for, there may be room for advancement. The plus
side of working here is that they have an intranet website among all the
32 labs with the job listings available for each one, allowing current
employees to search for a better job or a closer job, etc. Hours are
fairly irregular due to the type of work done in the labs. Labs are
open 24 hours and depending on your department, hours will vary. As for
myself, as a part of the administration department, we work Monday-
Friday or Tuesday-Saturday, and the regular shifts. Quest is very
accomodating and we have training courses frequently to update employees
on the ins and outs of the company. There are also diversity training
courses, and numerous meetings to discuss progress of the lab.
