I work in the General Offices of P&G in Puerto Rico. I have been in
the company since I graduated from my MBA in the year 2002. The
overall culture of the company is there is a process for everything,
there even is a process to process a process, if that makes sense. It
is a company that cares about it employees fully, but I have varying
degrees of such company principles according to geography. In terms of
career, it almost like getting constantly trying to get a job from B-
school. You have to be agresive and achieve greatness in your classes
to show off at interviews, well here is the same except it is achieve
greatness in your current assignment to show of in yor W&DP (you record
of achievements...like an internal resume). At least in my office you
have to schmooze with upper management to get noticed, just like when
networking at job fair. The general rule is the closer you are in
Cincinnati (HQ) the easier it is to grow in the company. So , if you
are fixed to be the next CEO you better get to HQ soon. The trainings
are great and very useful in your everyday. Basically the first years
or so have a steep learning curve, afterwards you start centralizing in
what ever your field is and then you manage a lot people. Hours are
very reasonable and everybody is top-notch, so competition is fierce.
It is a very beaurocratic company where change comes only at the
expense of time and patience, so if you are a person that needs to see
your mark in the workplace to feel fulfilled, P&G might not be for
you.
