Pro Staff is based in Minneapolis, with approx. 100 offices throughout
the country. Although it was not like this when I first began with the
company, the culture has taken a huge shift since the staffing business
has suffered considerably. Pro Staff was a company that allowed a lot
of autonomy and fostered an entrepreneurial environment. Unfortunately,
they made multiple hiring mistakes in most of their markets, and
therefore only had 4 profitable markets. When business was good, these
markets hit the mistakes of the other 28 (now 13). Within the last 2
years, the business has dipped by over 50% and the culture is one of
blame and finger pointing. For two years they have been engaged in
constant cut backs and restructurings. The new president has created a
Vision, and it is as if the Vision has taken a life of its own. The
turnover has been horrendous, and the comp plan revisions have been
constant, and always negative. Expect to work long hours. Do not
expect to get promoted because Pro Staff does not want to have people
from the staffing industry, including their own people, running the
business. They always hire male white executives from the outside who
usually have failed in their last jobs but succeed in concealing this
fact from Pro Staff. The company is WHITE, WHITE, WHITE, except in Los
Angeles. And Los Angeles throws them for a loop. The Minneapolis crowd
HATES California. They have a Diversity Director who does nothing but
they have him so they don't have to actually have diversity. There is
no opportunity for advancement and the starting salaries have been
reduced. The CRM system is cumbersome and the charges that corporate
heaps on the markets continue to grow, including 6% of revenue. The
good things?? The four owners (men in their early 50's) are
gorgeous!!! It's also a great party environment
