My first interview was on campus with a partner. I interviewed with all
four firms and PwCs was a little different than the rest. The others
were "tell me about a time when" while PwC asked me straight up
questions. For example, "how do you perform when presented with a
difficult task?" followed by "give me an example from a class in the past
year". It took a while to hear back from them, about two weeks. When I
did, the recruiter said I did very well but they did not have any
opportunities in my first location choice. I thought this might be B.S.
because my location was Chicago, and I didn't believe they were not
hiring any tax people. Anyway, she said she would forward my info to my
second location choice of New York. I was told my chances were slim and
I began to assume I would not get a job offer from PwC. About a month
and a half later PwC NYC called and invited me to Tax Superday. At the
Superday, I was assigned a group to interview with (they randomly
assigned this which upset me a little). The interview consisted of 3
short half hour interviews where I was asked about my classes, why I
wanted to come to NYC, what I liked about PwC, ect. It was mostly to
asses fit with the group. I was offered the job about a week later. So,
if you don't hear back right away it does not mean they didn't like you.
It took PwC over two months to offer me a job. You always have a chance
until they say no.
