Graduate Position in Assurance STEP 1: Complete and submit an application form STEP 2: Complete an Online Numerical Reasoning Test STEP 3: Attend a first interview with a manager or somebody from HR Interview is focused on 5 areas: - commercial awareness (be prepared to talk about something that YOU found interesting to follow in the business news) - career focus (show you have researched your job choice, e.g. the ACA and what audit involves, e.g. teamwork, travel, flexibility) - integrity - teamwork (talk about your involvement in study groups, sports teams, etc) - communication skills (keep eye contact, don't interrupt interviewer) - drive and motivation (be able to talk about projects etc, e.g. your gap year, your involvement in voluntary work, etc) STEP 4: Attend an Assessment Day, which includes - numerical test -diagramatic test - group discussion about a business case study - interview with a partner very unpredictive interview, but mine had this type of question - "What do you think are the current challenges facing the Accountancy Profession" (talk about Sarbanes Oxley, Introduction of International Financial Accounting Standards) - "What do you think are the disadvantages and risks of working in such a large organisation and what can we as employer do to mitigate those risks" (talk about alienation and danger of involuntary discriminating against others in the diverse workforce as risks, propose organised social groups and ethical training as solutions) - "How would you solve a conflict between a German and a French team on an international multilocation project" (this was my longest answer, impossible to reproduce here, you probably won't get asked this) A lot of my colleagues also got asked about interest rates and what would happen to the UK economy if they went up/down, you can always talk about house prices and consumption in relation to this.
