The outlook for the company is bleak at best. The technology is old,
their core market is disappearing for their outdated instant
photography products and being replaced by competitor digital
innovations. Although they will be introducing new products in the
near future, the competition will crush them with billions of dollars
of advertising. Polaroid has some good ideas, but little advertising
money to make the consumer cognizant of anything new. This fact,
coupled with constant layoffs has created an environment of fear and
dispair. There is absolutely no future for Polaroid. It was recently
purchased by the Petters Group and will most likely be sold off piece
meal in 2006 or 2007. In my opinion, look for the eBay auction in 2008
to get items left over from the corporate gift store.
