I went through four rounds of interviews. I applied on-line at
Monster.com and was phoned within minutes by the regional recruiter. I
met with him for a standard screening interview that took no more than
20 minutes. The questions were basic and were the same for all
applicants. I completed an application for employment at the time of
the first interview as well as completed documentation authorizing a
background check and drug test. My second interview was one week later
with the HR Manager. She did not have a list of standard questions as
the recruiter did and seemed to ask whatever popped into her head. She
was very friendly and open and made the interview seem more like a
conversation. Since I was well-qualified for the position, I got the
sense that she was making sure I fit in with the culture. I was
notified that I made it to the next round within a couple of days. My
next interview was with the manager of the regional division, who would
be my supervisor. Again, there was not a list of standard questions,
just a conversation. The final step was a phone interview with the
Director of Operations for my department, who I did not report to nor
was a part of the local region. The interview was more structured than
the others, but the questions were still basic. I was asked to explain
my job history and duties, why I was a good fit for Pitney Bowes, and
talk about an incident where I handled a difficult situation. The
timeframe for all four interviews, background check and drug test was
approximately three weeks.
