I worked in corporate fp&a for Monsanto and left the company shortly
after the merger with Pharmacia. The culture was very team oriented and
the work environment was designed to encourage interaction with other
team members. The benefits were great, I paid almost nothing for
healthcare, the subsidised cafeteria had good food and the free gym was
better than any I'd ever paid to join. The dress code was business
casual, I don't ever remember wearing a tie or wool slacks.
Salary levels were slightly higher than average for the region and
included a bonus plan, profit sharing in the 401K and options (not many)
for every employee. As a middle manager your salary would be on par
with similar positions on either coast but with a much lower cost of
living. I left the company because I didn't think there were a lot of
opportunities for advancement in the immediate future, mostly due to the
merger and potential for elimination of duplicate or redundant positions.
I had any desire to move back to the midwest, Monsanto / Pharmacia would
be on my short list of targeted companies.
