The overall business outlook is good. Pfizer will continue to be a
force to be reckoned with in the pharmaceutical industry. However, one
of its weaknesses at this point is managing the size of the company.
Pfizer now has 120,000 employees worldwide and the problem is that it
feels this way. Somehow, Pfizer will have to find a way to appeal to
its employees by giving off a smaller feel. It's crazy not knowing the
person two offices down from you. I think that anyone who is thinking
about working for Pfizer should first consider what they want out of a
marketing career. If they really want to do classical marketing, then
they should probably go with a consumer packaged goods company.
However, if they want to focus on professional marketing, then Pfizer
would probably be a good fit. Pfizer is typically a place to work after
you've worked for 5-7 years elsewhere. It's difficult, but definitely
not impossible, to start a career as a marketing associate at Pfizer.
