| Sr. Marketing Manager |
The typical hiring process for marketing is that resumes are screened
by an HR rep and the hiring manager from submissions made by
headhunters or taken from monster.com/hotjobs.com. The selected
candidates are contacted and brought in for at least two rounds of
interviews. If people are traveling from out of the area, they are put
up in a hotel for teh night. All expenses are paid by the company. A
typical round of interviews consists of 4 people -- a senior
representative from HR, the hiring manager, the hiriing Director, a
candidate's peer and one other senior person outside of the
business unit. The group of interviewers makes the hiring decision
based on input from all interviewers. They are looking for someone who
is a good fit with the company culture, who takes direction well and
can operate at the next senior level.
The typical questions asked in a job interview are: take me through
your resume; strengths & weaknesses; leadership style; tell me about a
time when you...had a difficult time convincing someone of your
opinion; ...when you had to distill facts from a large amount of
data; ...you had to confront a difficult employee. They also assess
communication ability, leadership presence, creativity and
professionalism.
