Pepperidge Farm, Inc. is a very political place to work. The company
has a distinct "old boy network" network in place. If you are not a
part of teh "in crowd" then your ideas are nto valued and your effort
is not recognized. There is no workplace diversity in that there are
very few, if any, minorites working at the company and non in senior
management roles. When you go out for lunch with other employees
(there is no company cafeteria), discussions very quickly turn to
minivans, school and kids which probably reflects the suburban nature
of the office location on teh Westport/Norwalk border. If you are an
outsider with fresh ideas, beware! The company does not like people to
rock the boat and expects everyone to stay in line and do what they are
told. The company does have some great perks like half-day Friday's
every week of the year and the opportunity to buy an extra week of
vacation. But you pay the price for them in work spirit. It's not
uncommon to be expected to work long hours outside of the normal 9-hour
workday.
