I would describe the working environment as "good ole boy". I have been
temping with this client for almost three years and my reception was not
intially well received. Over the course of my assignment, the employees
here have warmed up to me. The culture is not as diverse as other
companies I have worked for in my past. There ratio of minorites to
whites is about 3 to 1. Like most American companies in the past
decade, Penske is now experiencing outsourcing thus causing a shift in
the cultural climate. There are now Indians in the office which has
drastically changed the face of the office. Before the 2004 year is
over, this office will be closed down completely and moved to India.
Over all, my experience here has been favorable. The hours are very
flexiable and accomodating. The dress code is generally casual and
since the summer months began, we are able to wear jeans and tennis
shoes on Fridays. There are no opportunities for permanate hire or
advancement for that matter for obvious reasons.
This has been the longest assignment I have ever worked and if I could
help it, I wouldn't work another open-ended assignment in the future.
