The firm likes to say it keeps pace with its "peer firms". The exact
firms in that peer firm group tend to fluctuate according to which firms
offer what and the P,W associates get what the bottom of the 'peer
group' offers. Bonuses are announced as late as possible in the year
(and begrudgingly so- despite some heft profits per partner), and there
are no special bonuses for hours billed in excess of certain
thresholds. In addition, although the firm trumpets that its "salary
package" is on par with its "peers", there are no other benefits
(dental/eye care; 401K matching; etc) in that package that make a
difference to the associate's bottom line.
