The location I work is one of Pasminco's production facilities. It is a
technically oriented company which should in my opinion be a lot more
customer driven. The current focus is more on the production of zinc
metal and not so much on customers needs. The challenge in this company
is to change the production focus to a more customer oriented approach.
This is one of my tasks, so an interesting job. The culture is very
static, i.e. our management tries to organise most things through
procedures which make things often very inflexible. The decision making
process is therefore not very efficient and takes too long. This is also
related to the fact that we are part of a bigger organisation with the
head quarters in Melbourne. Decisions on capital investments have to be
approved by Melbourne.
Career planning within the Pasminco Group is not present. Career
opportunities on the site where I am based are limited.
