My employers created a fun and productive work environment. Managers
were helpful to assist new associates, and provided adequate training
to help us succeed in our jobs. I did not find much diversity in the
people hired, however, that could possibly only apply to the specific
two stores I worked at, which were under the same managment. Employees
that were hired were generally caucasion, I worked with few minority
employees. Store managers and Co-managers were required to work 40
hours a week to receieve benefits. Assistant managers were required to
work between 32 and 40 hours a week. While working at pacific sunwear I
went through many assistant managers, however I had three managers, my
store manager, the co manager and one assistant manager that remained
the same throughout my entire experience at pacific sunwear. Sales
associates recieved hours based on the quality of work they performed
ranging from 3.5 hours a week to 30 hours a week. Opportunities for
advancement were slim due to age requirements and hour requirements for
anything above a sales associate position.
