Where do I start? I have prior experience at the job I was hired for, and I also
hold a college degree. Generally, that would lead one to believe that an 'above
base pay' wage would be not be an unreasonable request. Well, I was not even
informed about the pay rate until two weeks after hire, and thus had no
opportunity to discuss the rate at the time of interview. According them, I was
given the base pay ($8.50/hr) because the position was seasonal. I was not told
that the position was seasonal until I began working my first shift. I have
extensive experience in stock, and am very unhappy with the current wage. I was
promised a 'bump up' in pay several times, but it has never occured. When I did
bring up the fact that I should have been hired at a higher rate based on my
experience, I was screamed at, told I was wrong, and sent home for the rest of my
shift. On another occasion, I was not paid for an entire day's work. My shift
begins at 6am, and the managers are constantly late. In that circumstance, the
manager clocks the employee in on time. On this occasion, I was not clocked in at
all. It took alot of research to figure out where that money went, and ultimately
was given a print out of all of my clock in's. Once again, it was my job to
figure out what went wrong. I found the error, and was paid two paychecks later
with no consequences for the manager at fault.
Essentially, working at Organized Living is a nightmare. The pay rate is too
low, and sometimes you don't even get paid for the work you do.
