Organized Living is disorganized. With a new, very successful CEO in
place, the opportunity for Organized Living to be a successful retailer
does exist. However, from the corporate level to the retail store level,
all aspects of the company are in dissaray. Management is absolutely
horrendous, including some individual managers who are verbally abusive,
lack any sort of tact, and are unwilling to provide positive feedback.
Moreover, any opportunities for advancement to the management level are
non-existant (despite what your manager may tell you). I was told that
such opportunities would exist for me within the company, particularly
because I am young, willing to travel, and well-educated (I was later
told that a college education means nothing). Yet, I have seen my hours
as well as my responsibilities diminish as the direct result of the
regional director's decision to introduce new management within the
store, thereby negating any opportunites for my own self, all while
totally contradicting what was indicated to me at the time of hire. Oh,
then she resigned from her position and left the company the same week
(as did the Vice President of Marketing). There is absotely nothing
'organized' about the way Organized Living conducts business, except for
maybe the dress code. The code consists of white oxford shirt, black
dress pants, black socks, belt, etc. Somewhat impractical for those of us
who simply 'open boxes.'Diversity within the store I work at does exist
with respect to sexual orientation, but only as the result of the actions
of one hiring manager. There is no diversity with respect to race, as I
believe that every employee at my location is caucasian- I also believe
that Organized Living would be perfectly happy to keep it that way.
