I have had an excellent opportunity at The Orange County Register to
learn and grow from a professional standpoint. The culture is very
conservative and encourages low-risk decisions. Unfortunatley the
culture does not encourage entrepreneurial ventures. I've had the
opportunity to manage and succeed on organizational transformation
projects, including sales force automation, and content management. It
is very comfortable, I probably only work 35-40 hours per week because
of the flexibility and my ability to outperform others. However, I feel
in the last couple of years I have grown stale in my current position.
You see, the Register does not promote from within. Although I'm
receiving my MBA at USC, I had only a token interview for a Manager of
Business Planning & Analysis position although I know I could do a So if
you like boredom and consistency the Register is your place.
