I had 4 rounds of interviews before getting an offer. First question
in my
first interview was
simple but surprised me: "What do you think about Ogilvy?" I went on to
met key
people on
different accounts as "chemistry-checks" in more rounds. During the
final round,
I was
interviewed by three Senior Partners at once. They dove to the
point: "Young
buyers reject us
but we've got to reach them, without risking our dominant position with
mature
buyers. Have
you handled that at all?" The long session was to establish my grasp of
the
client's business
and discuss how my background was relevant. Other times, an ad campaign
I'd
worked on was
interpreted: "Your ad positions the product as X, right? Why?" The
rest of day
was full of
individual meetings with more Senior Partners, who asked similar
questions, and
I ended the
day talking with creative directors who wanted to meet me just to be
sure that
we'd get along.
One asked: "I just need to know, you're not an a**h**e, are you?"
