OfficeMax has gone through a lot of changes. Some good, some bad. The
overall corporate culture is pretty rigid, but a lot depends on how your
immediate department head manages. There is a dress code, casual Fridays,
but it has relaxed somewhat in the last couple of years. Because of all
the change and rapid growth, there are a lot of opportunities. Salaries
for the most part are low, except at the executive level. OfficeMax is
very top heavy, but with the acquisition by Boise, hopefully they will
clean house and get rid of some of the good old boys. There is some
diversity, mainly as a result of lawsuits in the early years. Turnover is
high, it is not an easy place to work.
