Essentially I was not interviewed for the position. I was telephoned by
the editor of the Northern Territory News while I was working as the
Chief of Staff for the Cairns Post in Queensland Australia.
After a brief chat on the telephone during which he asked me if I would
be keen to move to Darwin he offered mt the position. The main thing I
remember being asked was whether I was prepared to take full
responsibility for the newsroom and production of the newspaper from
time to time.
