Business Outlook

| Deputy Editor |
The overall business outlook I believe is to provide a quality
newspaper
that is relevant to and informative to the people in its community.
Through being relevant we can best serve the needs of advertisers and
therefore generate and make more money for the comapny.
We are the leading newspaper in our region mainly because of our size.
We are a much bigger publication that others in the area and
advertisers
really cannot afford to use the competition because they do not have
the
circulation reach.
However, this can be both a negative and positive for the company.
Some staff can become complacent and therefore not provide the best
possible customer service every time. The positive side is that we do
have the ability to reach many diffrent people across all sections of
our community and are therefore a very powerful medium, which when
harnessed correctly can make both lasting and positive impacts on both
staff and customers.
Overall the staff morale is good, however, I feel the lower level staff
need to be listened to more by senior management. There is a tendency
by
management to stick with the attitude that no-one is irreplaceable.
However, true this may be, it should not, as it has been at times, an
excuse to fob staff off when they have genuine concerns, ideas or
views.
Basically listening skills need to be used more and be genuine.
