NEWP: Get in the circle. Kiss the ring, whatever the case may be
and you will have lifetime employment regardless of whether you perform
or not. Travel can be first class and non-productive if you have the
right connections. Otherwise you ride coach and are expendable
regardless of what you do for the organization. Never fall into the trap
believing that because you delivered performance that anyone notices or
even cares. The only time that can even remotely help is if everyone
knows to the point where it would make management look bad for shafting
you and even then they still might. If a VP or CEO has a good time with
you, you have lifetime employment. Don't make enemies, at least not face-
to-face. Stab people in the back to get ahead. Learn from the big
successes and tell your people how much you care about all of them then
turn around in off-site meetings and sacrifice everyone but your friends
then show up at BBQs and lie to those same people about how you tried to
save their jobs. Senior management does the same so the practice is
respected. NEWP consistently hires through friends and family.
Credentials aren't important unless they are in a growth phase. Then
people without any credentials look for people way more qualified than
them to tell them what to do and boost their egos. If you're friends and
family, benefits and salary are fabulous and very negotiable. Otherwise
they are sub-par. If you're an incoming executive negotiate a lock-tight
contract. If they're really hot for you, they'll overlook things and you
can really shaft them over a barrel (and do the same to the HR manager).
Dress is business casual.
