The corporate culture at Neiman Marcus is extremely competitive. One
reason being the lack of purchases regular customers have been making
lately. Many of the sales people are living off their draw versus their
commissions so they immediately follow the nearest client to breath life
into their bank accounts. Their sales associates are individuals
representing different cultures from around the world. This is important
because our clients are multi-cultural and multi-lingual. I work three
ten hour days; Thurs, Fri, and Sat because they are the busy days in the
store. Other sales associates shifts vary depending upon their schedule.
I have been a sales associate for awhile and I only like to work on peak
days. Advancement is lack luster in this company, they only care about
your numbers and what you produce for them. They offer little rewards
like $2 incentives for signing up a new client credit card. Promotion
for your achievements is rare.
