Job Title Interview Survey
Investigator NTSB's hiring process weeds out all but the most patient and/or persistent applicants. Ten months is not unusual from time of application to first day on job. Don't expect application to be acknowledged; don't be surprized by bait and switch job offers. Submit applications by trackable/registered mail, as they are routinely lost. Knowing someone (ideally a manager or executive) helps alot. Positions posted for 2 weeks or less are usually already designated for someone. Positions posted for more than 2 months are usually hard to fill, and if its not because of special skills required, its usually because of undesirable assignment (for example, to office with turnover problems.)
