Investigator NTSB has been without stable leadership since "W" took over, a series of temporary and acting chairmen. The current chairwoman has been changing things willy nilly since the day she took over with no evidence of a plan or rational. She likes cats and all of hers have lifejackets, according to the national newspapers... I suppose that means she's committed to our mission of ensuring the safety of transportation. As a small Federal agency, most of the employees have direct contact with the political appointees. If you respect people for their qualafications rather than their connections, you may find it hard to work at a small Federal agency like NTSB. But if you can put up with years of nonsense and aggrivation for those few moments of really feeling good about doing something that makes transportation safer, being an investigator at NTSB is pretty good. There is a lot of prestige in NTSB and that makes it attractive place to work too.
