| Temporary Administrative Assistant |
I was brought in as a contract employee and was under the impression
that I would be here atleast one year. After about my second or third
month, my boss told me to begin looking for something else because she
wasn't sure if the position would be available after the new fiscal year
and if I found something before, to take it. I found out later, that
she is bringing someone else who held the same title as she does for a
number of years and the person is retiring, so this person will be able
to take on more responsibility - leaving her to do less.
I have found it difficult to please my boss - if I ask for more work,
I'm made to feel like I'm pressuring her to find something for me and if
I'm idle - then, I'm made to feel as though I should be doing
something. I am always on time and never know when the other employees
will show up for work. This can make things very difficult when trying
to provide a person calling with a time that someone may call them
back. Many times, when my boss can't find something; such as a file,
she will tell me I did something with it and later, it is usually found
in her office, but an appology is never given.
The dress code is casual, there is some diversity in the immediate
Administrative office and there is no overtime given, but my boss will
ask me to stay late at times.
