MS has two rounds of interviews which are professionally organized. The
first round is fit-based whereas the second round is organized as a 1-
day assessment centre which involves (a) group exercises (b) one-on-one
IB interviews and (c) a numerical/reasoning test (d) a 1-o-1 case study
(a) The group exercise involves the discussion of a business situation
where candidates simulate a board meeting. There is not much room for
preparation, as the team work ability is what seems to matter here.
Those who got the offers contributed creative ideas directed to the core
issues, not those who tried to be the great leaders without making
effective contributions (as an analyst you would never lead anyone as
you are at the very bottom - read monkey business before you go into
any IBD interview).
(b) Interviews in the first round are personality-based; nonetheless,
those with previous experience got a lot of technical questions. Some
also reported consulting-questions such as market-sizing where simple
calculations had to be done. Those who have read the vault guide to
finance interviews should not have any problems.
(c) The numerical test is very easy. Answer questions correctly rather
than rushing through it - nobody in my group finished it! Go to the
JPMorgan careers page to get an idea of how such tests look like.
Practice your school maths (percentages, multiplying/dividing fractions
etc, that's it).
(d) The case study is very simple and involved a business disposal
situation where various alternatives for the seller have to be
evaluated. It is essential that you ask the interviewer loads of
questions and that you prepare a good structure for your analysis (as
in consulting interviews).
