In Fixed Income, MS likes to run a lean shop. Analytics and research
staff are very understaffed. At the same time, I find the atmosphere
there very entreupenurial. There is a big emphasis on autonomy and
figuring out for yourself how best to add value. Building a personal
franchise is key to succeeding here. I find the corporate culture in
Fixed Income to be extremely professional. In the short time that I
have been there, difficult personalities and traders that throw temper
tantrums have been weeded out. There is a strong emphasis in the
corporate culture on being able to work with others both in your own
immediate group and across the firm. I think for a new person coming to
Wall St., the training is excellent and opportunities are great.
