Because I was aiming for the HK office, but applying in the states, I
only had two rounds. The first round was typical campus recruiting with
a written case. The second round was a group interview based on a
written case, followed by simulated client interactions. Monitor was
very interested not only in problem-solving ability but also team-work
and interpersonal sensitivity (e.g., the simulated client interaction
was convincing a manager who felt abandoned by his boss that his
opinions were valuable to the success of the project.) The
interviewer was a mid-level consultant from the HK office, and I think
the decision on whether or not to take me was entirely his. At that
time there was no strict language requirement but now there is a
requirement to speak Mandarin to work in Greater China.
