Annual base: $65,700 plus bonus. At Merrill, all employees are a part
of the bonus pool. Depending on your band and last formal performance
review in October determined the ercentage. When Merrill announces its
annual peroformance, an amount is allocated to two bonus pools; one for
exempt and another for non-exempt employees. Directors and Managers
determine the amount for each employee which gets paid on the third
Friday in January (its paid only if the employed on payment date).
Merrill has very good retirment plans (as you would expect). They have
a modest matching policy on their 401k (only about $1500), but they
also have a company-funded plan (in addition to the 401k). You may
also contribute to the ESOP where stock is offered at a 15% discount
(however, if you do both the ESOP and 401k, you will not receive the
match in your 401k). Traditional Band 3s (some senior managers) and
above receive options. Vacation is basic. I think it starts at 2
weeks available immediatly. It increases every 5 years or so. There
are no sick days. Merrill has occurrances. An employee out for three
days with the flu is one occurance. Managers regulate to ensure there
is no abuse. One thing I found great with Merrill is that they had
(not sure if they still do)paternity for men whose wife had a baby.
This was one week, in addition to vacation and personal days. I do not
remember the Personal day policy but remember it was comparable to most
organizations.
