Working for Merck & Co (Information Technology) in Westpoint, PA was
absolutely horrible!!!I found the company to be political, lots of
favoritism, no chance for promotion, everyone was threatened by anyone
new coming on board. There was no chance for advancement. I sued the
company for 15 counts of discrimination (I am a white female), age
discrimination, sexual harassment, after going to HR with a 40 page
paper of complaints. HR did nothing! I provided the company with many
ideas of which the boys received credit (raises, bonuses, stock) and I
received nothing. I had everything in emails, all proven evidence.
Again, HR did nothing. I finally hired a lawyer and sued the
company and won! They then laid me off. I found the IT area to be very
political, it was a typical boys network, not many female managers and
again, anyone new coming into the company didn't have a chance. I
worked in IT supporting the call center technology. Every recruiter I
talked to since agreed as to the unfriendly and political corporate
culture. I thought the company paid well, but the managers didn't know
how to manage. My manager was promoted to director (politics). I can
only say that the company needs to be re-organized, only with the VIOXX
issues, they may be sunk! Not many people at Merck are happy
