Job Title Workplace Survey
DB Operations Administrator Mellon is a male dominated, 'good ol boy' company that spits in the face of diversity. Female managers are denied every request to work part time following the birth of a new child but male managers are allowed to work part time for the first 5 years or more of a new child. Managers have no idea what it is that their employees do, are capable of doing or would prefer to be doing otherwise. Mellon is so horrifically understaffed following 3 years of layoffs every 6-8 weeks and a so-called hiring freeze (that apparently only affects HR Solution heritage offices) that we are worked like mules in the field but have had no raise in almost 4 years and no bonus in 5 years. Employees are hired to answer phones and there is no escaping that chore, no matter how quickly you learn, no matter how great your performance is, no matter how qualified you are to do something more productive for the Clients. Once you are identified as an employee that does something well, possibilities are crushed for a position elsewhere in the company. Management is a joke. Mellon spits in the face of employee development and employee satisfaction. You are there for their purposes and to hell with everything else. Work-Life balance is preached at least weekly in email but God help you if you ever try to take advantage of one of the 'family-friendly' policies offered to every other Mellon office EXCEPT for Cary office. We are forbidden to leave for lunch or to leave prior to completing at least a 10 hr day - 6 or 7 days a week. To rub salt in the wound, there aren't even any plastic forks to eat the lunch that you have to bring for yourself; there are no paper plates to put a freshly warmed lunch plate on & carry back to your desk. This company - at least the Cary office - treats employees no better than dirt on the bottom of their corporate shoes and the worst part is that it bothers no one that 99% of this company is miserable. Internal surveys consistently report horribly low morale.. so much so that over 2/3 of the company won't even respond to the surveys that are sent internally but the same weight is given to the 30% of responses that they do receive as would be given to 100% if the rest of us could muster up the strength to respond. What's the point afterall? Nothing will change here. It is a paycheck and nothing more; of course, we are threated daily with losing that which is the only thing keeping me here in the fifst place.
