I wish I knew what the overall business outlook is for Mellon. It
seems that management goes out of their way to destroy possibilities of
the re-signing of contracts with existing clients. We haven't signed a
new client in several years but we've lost several so it makes an
employee wonder what's going on? The economic environment has been
bad, yes, but competitors aren't having problems.
When Mellon writes a contract, it's like management looks at the most
unrealistic scenario (2 month implemetations, cost, etc.) and
says 'yeah; we can do that'. Then we get waist-deep in the
implementation and it's obvious that we cannot so we perpetually fail
to meet contractual obligations. It's been communicated so many times
that I lose count that our biggest problem is Implementations.. so one
would think that this would be our focus but it isn't. We keep right on
making the same stupid decisions that are responsibile for losing the
last 10 clients and we do it with a smile so I'm not sure where Mellon
is taking us. It's rumored that they are trying to run the old Unifi
business into the ground so that they can drop that division to make up
for the mistake that was made 3 years ago when Unifi was purchased.
Who really knows though? The monthly internal communications that we
get from Marty McGuinn keep preaching about how great we're doing but
we need to do better with less resources.. you can only do so much with
what you've got and Mellon has a company of unhappy, underpaid,
overworked, under-appreciated and overcommitted employees.
An on-looker would think that Mellon has several strengths.. it's a
well-known name in the market and now that we are paired wiht Buck
Consulting, it seems like this company could really take off but it's
like someone is purposely avoiding success for some unknown reason.
To someone considering employment with Mellon Financial Corporation, I
would say this 'Stop'. Don't consider it, unless you are a man that is
willing to wrong employees all day, every day to get further & further
ahead. If you are a man, this is not such a bad company to work for
but if you are a woman, a mother, or a wife, signing a contract with
Mellon is the equivalent of signing a deal with the Devil. I have lost
all touch with my husband and if you have children, their well-being is
put 2nd to Mellon continually. Snow-days mean coming to work but don't
bring your kids; no more weekend soccer games or taking kids to ballet
lessons or basketball practice because now you have to work on weekends
and you can forget flex work schedules - unless, of course, you are a
man in which case, you must be granted any and all flexibility to
maintain your relationship with your family.
