We have more work than we can staff. It's supposedly the best year in the history of the Firm. Our new managing director (Ian Davis) is very focused on people. That's the one area they need to work on. McKinsey, as many employers, faced some hard years from a people standpoint when things got lean (I was not here then, so I can't really comment on that). As the job market heats up and headhunters begin to call, the employee is in a bargaining position again - they have other options so McKinsey must renew its commitment to people as people again - not just superstar performers who work very, very hard.
